1. What qualifications are needed to become a CASA? Volunteers must be at least 21 years old, undergo a thorough background check, and complete 30 hours of pre-service training.
2. How much time is required? Volunteers typically spend 10-15 hours per month on their case, including visiting the child, attending court hearings, and meeting with professionals involved in the child’s life.
3. Do I need legal experience? No legal experience is necessary. CASA volunteers come from all walks of life and receive comprehensive training and ongoing support.
4. What support will I receive? CASA volunteers receive initial training, ongoing education, and supervision from CASA program staff.
5. What impact can I have? CASA volunteers provide a consistent, caring presence in a child’s life, helping to ensure their needs are met and advocating for a safe, permanent home.
