Parent Café - Parent Support

Parent Cafes are free bilingual parent support groups offered in SJC. A curriculum-based program utilizing the Strengthening Families Framework: 6 Protective Factors, topics include:

  • Stress Management
  • Building & maintaining social connections
  • Obtaining community resources
  • Tools to strengthen family bonds
  • Behavior management for children

Home Visitation Initiative: Parents as Teachers

Free home visitation, curriculum-based program for parents with children 0-3 living in the Stockton 95203 & 95206 zip codes and Tracy.
Services include:

  • Weekly visits with a family advocate trained on the Parents as Teachers Curriculum. Visits focus on key areas of development: Cognitive, Language, Personal-social, & Motor
  • Free developmental/health screenings
  • Enhancing parenting skills
  • Connecting families to community resources
  • Monthly parent workshops to interact with other families in the program
  • Raising A Reader Book Bag Exchange Program

Journey WORKS

Free home visitation program that provides families with hands-on support while working with a family advocate. Journey WORKs provides family support by:

  • Empowering parents to be self-sufficient
  • Helping families establish long & short-term goals
  • Scheduling developmental screenings for children
  • Connecting families to essential support services & community resources such as: food, clothing, health insurance, & counseling

Qualifications for services:

  • You are pregnant and/or parenting a child 0-5
  • Receiving CalWORKs
  • At risk or a history of substance use and/or mental health challenge

Family WORKs

Family WORKs is an in-home visitation program that supports parents who are on CalWORKs with a child 0-3 in the following ways: preparing children for school readiness, providing helpful information and activities for the parent/child utilizing the Parents As Teachers Curriculum, providing community resources, and assisting parents with applying for jobs and resume building.

CASA - Court Appointed Special Advocates

The CASA Program endeavors to ensure that abused, neglected and abandoned children who have become dependents of the San Joaquin County Court will have a safe and permanent home. Through a network of trained advocates, CASA of San Joaquin County works closely with the court and HSA. Limited to Dependency appointments. This is a volunteer program–Consisted of 30 hours of training and 18 month commitment.

Level Up

Level Up is a youth violence prevention program serving youth ages 8–18 in Stockton who may be at increased risk of involvement in violence. The program provides mentoring, case management, family support, and skill-building to help youth strengthen coping skills, build positive connections, and work toward personal goals.
 
Because Level Up takes a family-centered approach, both the youth and their caregiver must be willing to actively participate in the program. If someone is interested in Level Up or would like more information, they can contact me to discuss eligibility and determine whether the program would be a good fit for their family.
